We have become dependent on the compliance stabilisers of policies, procedures and controls. If we think about what cultural change is and akin it to learning to ride a bicycle...we need to change tack.

Here is the recent [29 May 2020] letter I wrote, published in the Guernsey Press Opinion pages on Guernsey's response to the coronavirus and how it reflects positively on its governance. But there is a word of caution.

We often, as compliance professionals find ourselves between a rock and a hard place. We feel we are working desperately hard to protect our organisations from regularly failure, guide them though the often treacherous world of changing regulation, desperately trying to educate, support, nurture growth and sustainability and sadly, although not always, receive little acknowledgment for our effort.
