Sentient leadership

The importance of being sentient, the ability to be able to perceive or feel things, is a key attribute of any leader.

So often, as managers, team leaders and board members, we can lose connection with our employees. We are so focused on the ‘business’, its profits, EBITDA, and whether we are meeting strategy, we forget the most important element, the people and our connection with them.

Inspirational and successful leaders never fail to recognise the importance of sentience, being open to and accepting of how others may be feeling, embracing their own feelings and being humble enough to share.
