Governance - COMPLEX or COMPLICATED?

Governance is inherently complex in nature, but not complicated.
Governance is inherently complex in nature, but not complicated.
For example:
The Boeing Engine is highly complicated - but highly predictable
A group of human beings are highly complex, which makes them emergent and not easily predictable.
Governance is nothing but a group of human beings trying to make good decisions and put those decisions into action.
This would be easy for an organisation to implement if it were solely run by automated means. But organisations are a group of human beings - this makes
the quality, effectiveness and impact of those decision-making processes highly influenced by its culture.
This is why governance codifications have been proven to be limited in their ability to prevent, some of which have been massive corporate failures.
If governance is used to ensure high performance, high-impact and high-ethical-oriented organisations, then we need to urgently approach governance through this lens.

Hi, I am Divya. I am passionate about the Complexity Governance System Model and how we can approach governance from this lens to improve and transform human performance systems. In the next few weeks, I'll try to unravel the constituents of what makes good governance.
